Renovation Bar, Corten, pavilion, Terrace, Rooftop Bar, Cingoli, Marche, Italy project. facciata unica Pavillon architecture concept "Chalet Arena delle Luci" Cingoli (MC) 2015 The municipal building known as Chalet "Arena delle Luci," inaugurated in Cingoli in July 2015, represents a complete renovation of both the structures and furnishings, with its intended use as a kiosk-bar. Its strategic location at the intersection of the city's two main avenues makes it a key structure, not only for local residents but also for tourists, becoming a focal point for the social and cultural life of the community and an attraction for visitors. Project Objectives The project was designed with the goal of harmoniously integrating into the urban and landscape context of Viali Valentini, a historic area undergoing redevelopment. The demolition of the previous building and the construction of the new Chalet were carried out in two consecutive phases, with special attention paid to environmental integration and enhancing the surrounding natural context. Architectural Structure The new structure is made of reinforced concrete, with an aerated ground slab and a walkable flat roof made of concrete beams and brick. The main walls are glazed on five sides, creating an open and transparent architecture that establishes visual and physical continuity between the two avenues, overcoming the division imposed by the previous building. The large sliding windows, framed in aluminum, allow for dynamic interaction between the interior and exterior, transforming the Chalet into an urban connector rather than a barrier. Materials and Design Great care was taken in the choice of materials, which combine modern aesthetics with sustainability. The transparent railing on the roof terrace, made of glass and iron, helps maintain the visual lightness of the entire complex. The summer terrace, furnished with synthetic rattan sofas, tables, and umbrellas, offers a relaxing outdoor space for bar patrons. Composite wood, used to uniform the sidewalks, vertical sections, and ceilings of the side portals, adds a touch of natural warmth, while the sandstone of the exterior stair support wall and the porcelain stoneware flooring inside contribute a tactile and durable dimension to the overall design. Cor-Ten Steel Cladding One of the building's most distinctive elements is the cladding of the perimeter walls, made from laser-cut Cor-Ten steel sheets. These panels, decorated with stylized tree silhouettes, evoke the trees along the surrounding avenues and visually soften the building’s mass, integrating it more harmoniously into the urban landscape. This cladding not only serves an aesthetic purpose but also guarantees long-lasting durability, adapting to the ever-evolving environmental context. Interior Spaces Inside, the Chalet offers functional and welcoming spaces. The two main rooms, totaling 160 sqm, are furnished with a modern bar counter made of backlit polycarbonate, wood, and steel. The furnishings, including contemporary design tables and chairs, create an elegant and minimalist atmosphere, while the lounge area, featuring eco-leather sofas, provides a relaxing environment for guests. The 46 sqm service area is dedicated to food preparation and includes a storage room, changing room, and staff bathroom. The 8.5 sqm public restrooms are designed to ensure comfort and accessibility. Outdoor Spaces and Landscaping The Chalet's outdoor area has also been carefully designed to blend into the urban and landscape context. The surrounding square features modern paving made of sandstone cobblestones and white pebbles, creating a contemporary graphic effect. Circular flower beds planted with grass and decorative shrubs enrich the minimalist aesthetic of the complex, helping to create an urban space with high visual quality and low environmental impact. A Modern Gathering Place Chalet “Arena delle Luci” is thus a point of reference for the social and cultural life of Cingoli, offering a modern and welcoming space for young people and all those who wish to enjoy moments of conviviality in an innovative environment, in harmony with nature and the urban context.
